Just trying to reconnect with you on Facebook!

I love Facebook for notes like these.  I'd like to reconnect with you despite the fact I treated you like shit in high school.  Makes you think twice about friending someone.  Only thing worse than receiving one of these is later seeing it all over the internet.  Like here.

Fox News Twitter feed gets hacked (we assume)

Many Twitter feeds as of late have been phished or hacked. Today the Fox News Twitter feed was presumed hijacked. At 9:00 this morning central time the Fox News Twitter feed offered

"Breaking: Bill O Riley is gay"

One cannot assume much these days with Obama announcing a VP candidate via text, candidates attempting Facebook dialogues with constituents, and other forays into social media. One might assume that the "Bill O Riley" mentioned was intended for Fox News host "Bill O'Reilly."

Anyway, something told me it might be a good idea to run to my computer and do the quickest screen grab I know how to do. So I did - and here it is. Also posted is the same page 10 hours later with the "Breaking New" removed and the prior headline now once again front and center.

Evidently it became a slow news day as we were left to ponder turkey taco lettuce wraps. It would appear today Mr. O'Reilly gained 366 additional followers if he care to "announce" anything additional tomorrow.

Social network Pownce got PWND.

Evidently this new economy of ours is now requiring companies to make money.  How uncool.

I find that any web news in mainstream media is noteworthy (versus Fred Shmedlap's blog or similar) in that it usually gives a rather watered-down and somewhat neophyte read to what's really going on - an informed POV for the uninformed.  This article actually provides some insights - particularly Microsoft's play in social media - that even your supervisor can understand .  Whatever.

Social media invaded by corporations (and not sucking)

It can be quite off-putting when advertisers start showing up in droves to your cool little corner on the internet.  If the suits have heard of it (and worse - understand it) then how is it cutting edge, cool etc?  How many of our mothers are now on Facebook?

Here is an example of the just opposite.  Monty Python now has a channel.  Content is free.  You can of course buy stuff if you wish.

You Tube is now cool again.  And life is good.
